BS Aviation Management

To meet the needs of the continually changing environment for education and business with an emphasis on aviation

The Aviation Management Department at ICBS offers a four-year BS Aviation Management program that provides the necessary educational background for aviation industry professionals. Potential problems within the field including problems faced by the airlines, corporate aviation, and general aviation, and airport management. Aviation Management Graduates gain an understanding of the various complexities facing the industry through a breadth of aviation industry related courses. They will also gain an understanding of the statistics and research methods and how they may be applied in research to solve problems within the aviation industry. Most suitable for aspiring entry level managers who wish to join airline, entities related to corporate aviation, general aviation and airport management.
The program further offers a licensed license for flight operation or a private pilot license at a small additional cost. These training and certification for these licenses is planned through two elite institutions of Shaheen Foundation, PAF. For FOO, collaboration is planned with SAPS Aviation College, Karachi and for PPL collaboration is planned with Air Eagle Aviation Academy,  Lahore. Moreover, the program is constituted through in building flexibilities with opportunities to continue into Pilot Training.

Career:

The program provides the graduates with the knowledge and skills that prepare them for the aviation industry, aviation related government jobs, research and development in the fields of aviation. With an Aviation Management degree, graduates will be able to get a job in various areas of aviation industry, but will also be able to avail an opportunity of the job of Flight operations officer. Those opting for a PPL will have the opportunity to move further and complete their CPL (Commercial Pilot License) and could qualify for the most coveted job in aviation and become airline pilots.

The Outcome:

The BS Aviation Management degree prepares students to work in a public or private airport, an airline or a general aviation company. Graduates of aviation management will be able to:
1. Analyze the current structure of the aviation industry, including general aviation, the airlines, corporate aviation, airports, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS), etc.
2. Analyze the growth of the major components of the aviation industry at the national and international levels
3. Describe the impact of limited airspace and airport capacity on the growth of the aviation industry
4. Understand the nature and sources of law to facilitate the operations in the aviation industry
5. Use business principles in airport planning and management, such as
a. Apply marketing principles to aviation industry
b. Interpret and analyze financial statements and control concepts
c. Develop and use accounting and budgetary data to assist management in decision making and control activities
d. Apply principles of Human resource Management
e. To plan all flight related operations the core of the current program
6. Flight operations officers will assist in planning, tasking, co-ordination and monitoring of air operations. They would be able to
a. Create flight plans
b. Maintain flight safety standards
c. Supervise mission plans
d. Manage teams of Flight Operations Assistants
7. Commercial Pilot License (CPL) holders join the most sought after profession of airline pilots, general aviation pilots and flight instructors.
8. After the approval of the concept, SAPS Aviation College and Air Eagle Aviation Academy, Lahore will be made a formal collaboration request and the financial details will be sorted out.
9. Imperial College plans to target about 20 students for the fall semester for this degree program.

Internship / Project: Students are required to complete a research project of specialization area of 6 credit hours in the final year of their BS program
