Accreditation & Recognition

The ICBS is chartered by the Government of the Punjab as an independent degree awarding institute, (The Imperial College of Business Studies Ordinance 2002, Punjab Ordinance No. XIX, 2002). ICBS degree is recognized by the Higher Education Commission and by institutions abroad. The ICBS is the first Business School in Punjab to be certified as having quality management system through ISO 9001:9002.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is a statutory body formed by the Government of Pakistan which was established in 2002. Its main functions are funding, overseeing, regulating and accrediting the higher education institutions in the country.
The Imperial College of Business Studies, Lahore (ICBS) was established in 1991 by the Pakistan Benevolence & Social Management Trust. The initial development of ICBS was supported by academic collaborations with the University of Hull, UK. In 2002, ICBS was chartered by the Government of Punjab as independent degree awarding institution (The Imperial College of Business Studies Ordinance 2002, Punjab Ordinance No. XIX, 2002).
The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) awarded the ICBS with highest category status “W” which is reserved for those institutions that fulfill all criteria of an International Quality University.

PEC interacts with the Government, both at the Federal and Provincial level by participating in Commissions, Committees and Advisory Bodies. PEC is a fully representative body of the engineering community in the country.
The Imperial College of Business Studies is approved by PEC for its Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (4 years) programs. The council shall as its mission set and maintain realistic and internationally relevant standards of professional competence and ethics for engineers, and license engineers, and engineering institutions to competently and professionally promote and uphold the standards.

NBEAC has three main functions: accreditation, training and networking. In its accreditation function, it develops and implements standards to improve the quality of business education in Pakistan. In its training function, it provides opportunities to faculty and managers to learn about quality standards and related matters. In its networking function, it provides a forum for business education professionals to learn from each other through conferences and seminars.
The Imperial College of Business Studies is a recognized institution by NBEAC for Business Education dissemination in Pakistan.

National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) is a recognized accreditor of bachelor level computing degree programs in Pakistan. It ensures the quality of education which students receive in Higher Education Institutions in Pakistan. It provides world leadership in assuring quality and in stimulating innovation in applied sciences, computing, engineering, and technology education. The Imperial College of Business Studies is approved by NCEAC to disseminate computing subjects at its campus. All programs under Faculty of Computer Science are approved by the council.

NTC has a mandate to carry out accreditation of all 4 year programs leading to technology degrees over a span of 16 years of learning. The Accreditation is to be used to ensure that quality technology education programs are run in all the universities in the country. The technology programs and respective Higher Education Institutions meet certain defined standards comparable to international standards. The technology education curriculum is aligned with guidelines of HEC and ensures Continual Quality Improvement culture, in the spirit of Outcome Based Education (OBE) system in conformance with Sydney Accord.
The Imperial College of Business Studies is approved by NTC to disseminate technology related subjects at its campus. All technology related programs under Faculty of Engineering and Technology are approved by the council.

The council has wide ranging powers and is authorized to perform all functions and to take steps connected with or ancillary to all aspects of the two professions including laying down standards of conduct, safeguarding interests of its members, assisting the Government and National Institutions in solving National problems relating to the professions, promotion of reforms in the professions, promotion of education of these professions, reviewing and advising the Government in the matter of Architecture and Town Planning education, etc.
The Imperial College of Business Studies is approved by PCATP to disseminate Bachelor of Architecture (5 years) program at its campus.
