Urdu alone is spoken by about sixty million people in Pakistan and India, but because informal spoken Urdu is mutually intelligible with Hindi and together, they are considered the fourth most-spoken language on earth, a knowledge of the Urdu language will allow you to converse comfortably with almost five hundred. Urdu is one of the cultural languages which has a rich literature and has familiarity with Hindi, Punjabi, Persian, Turkish, and Sanskrit. Learning Urdu can give better exposure to an individual for knowing other mentioned languages as well.

 Urdu stands as the main language of the Muslims in the sub-continent and is recognized as the official language of Pakistan. It serves as a rich repository of Muslim culture and literature, holding a valuable intellectual legacy. The current worldwide increase in the field of language research poses a hurdle that Urdu experts must confront through rigorous scientific investigation. The historical achievements of countries in natural and social sciences serve as evidence that without the cultivation of their own language, a nation cannot advance or participate effectively in the global political arena. The Department of Urdu at The Imperial College of Business Studies, Lahore (Chartered University) has identified these objectives for itself and is actively working towards achieving them.
