Overview

The mission of the Ph.D program in Urdu is to foster advanced scholarship and research in Urdu language and literature, cultivate high-level teaching and analytical skills, and promote a deep understanding of the cultural, historical, and social contexts of Urdu. The program is dedicated to producing scholars who are proficient in Urdu, capable of conducting original research, and committed to the preservation and promotion of Urdu language and literature.By integrating interdisciplinary approaches and modern pedagogical techniques, the program aims to prepare graduates for successful careers in academia, research, and related fields, thereby contributing to the enrichment and advancement of Urdu studies globally.

Objectives of Urdu PhD Programs

Cultivate advanced research methodologies and critical thinking skills to conduct original and substantial research in Urdu studies.

Enhance the ability to critically analyze classical and contemporary Urdu texts, including poetry, prose, and drama.
Cultural and Historical Understanding: Foster a profound understanding of the cultural, historical, and social contexts in which Urdu has developed and evolved.
Academic Contribution: Prepare to contribute to academic discourse through publications, conferences, and seminars.
Develop pedagogical skills to effectively teach Urdu language and literature at various educational levels.
Interdisciplinary Approach: Encourage an interdisciplinary approach, integrating insights from related fields such as history, linguistics, sociology, and comparative literature.
Develop a global perspective on Urdu literature and its influence, fostering connections and collaborations with scholars and institutions worldwide.
The learners understand key ideas and theories in literature and can use them in different situations.
Learners must be able to discuss Urdu literature by examining it through research and understanding its development in relation to its social and historical background.
Learners can evaluate a literary work by applying methods of literary criticism and research.
Learners know fundamental linguistic principles of the Urdu language.
The program will improve the learners’ job prospects in diverse areas like education and other research sectors.
